A special thanks from Our Boys Registrar, Mark McElwee
There have been a few people who never had the pleasure of meeting Mike Kennedy and getting to know who he was, just how much of a positive impact he had
on the swimmers and this league and why the league decided to rename the "A" champs in his honor. To find the answer to all these questions please click on the
following link or the one on the champs page for a tribute to someone I personally wish I had the pleasure of meeting and knowing as many of you did.

At the SAL winter meeting it was decided that to encourage sportsmanship among the teams in SAL that we need to create an award to be voted on by each team we are calling this award the Terry Peterson Sportsmanship Award. This award will be given to one boys and one girls team in each division that exhibits the characteristics of good sportsmanship and fair play in their meets each year. We would like each team to cast one vote for the team in their division that they felt was the most sportsmanlike of the teams that they swam against. We will ask that the vote be handed in at the seeding meeting. We would like this vote to be taken among the teams not just a vote of the coaches or reps. Please ask your team to vote so we can encourage good behavior between participating teams. Some questions that could be put before the athletes would be: Did the athletes shake hands before and after their events, were the athletes cordial towards each other, did they display respect for their opponents, officials and coaches. Did the coaches show respect for each other, officials and athletes? If there was a dispute how was it handled? Was it evident that good swimming was more important than winning? Please put these questions to your team in their division and ask them to vote for the team that exemplified these and other qualities.
